Abstract

Propeller is one of the important components in the aircraft, which serves to convert the rotation of the turboprop engine and provide thrust or thrust. The KT-1B Woong Bee has four blades, adjustable pitch, and propeller constant speed propeller. The propeller is driven by a power turbine through a reduction gear, and also a constant speed propeller is constant controlled by an E/G speed sensing device, namely the governor to maintain RPM engine orrotation propeller, by simply changing theangle propeller blade from feather (87˚) to fine pitch (11-12˚) and vice versa which is done with a single PCL (Power Control Lever) which is installed in each control quadrant and located on the L/H console of each cockpit. Problems at the pitch change in the propeller causing the blade angle is not as required, namely of angle feather (87˚) to angle fine-pitch (11-12˚) Failure of this pitch change can cause the aircraft to be unfit to fly and move through the air. The failure analysis that appears in the pitch change on the propeller is based on observations and also information obtained from the field instructor. In addition to using the method of observation, this study also using Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to get at the cause of the problems pitch in the propellerchange. After knowing the problem, then conducting an initial inspection which found that the propeller governor could not work optimally, due to damage to thesection pressure pump located inside the propeller governor which would result in a lack of pressure oilto push the feathering spring on the pitch change mechanism. This can result in the propeller not being able to change the angle as needed, namely fine pitch (11-12˚) and feather (87˚). In order for the propeller to change itspitchto the desired condition, it is deemed necessary to replace the propeller governor in accordance with the TO 1T-KT1B-2-5JG-7 reference.
