Abstract
Renewable energy has become a critical medium for future energy needs because the use of fossil fuels continues to increase significantly. Screw turbine Archimedes works by reversing the working principle of the pump into a turbine by utilizing a relatively heavy flow of water with the head shallow. This study aims to determine the optimal value of Archimedes. This research used an experimental method using different variations of the tilt angle of Archimedes. The turbine shaft changed in position concerning the angle of inclination. This aimed to get the best tilt angle position of the screw turbine. This study applied variations in the inclination angle of 25o, 30o, and 35o with a load of 2 kg, 4 kg, 6 kg, 8 kg, and 10 kg. This test utilized the flow from the river with an average discharge of 0.020 m3/s. The results of this study indicated that the optimum angle of the turbine on the slope of the shaft was 35o with the value of the turbine shaft speed without a load of 330 rpm. When given a bag, the optimal torque result was 7.3575 Nm, the turbine power value was 118.59 Watt, with a shaft rotational speed of 154 rpm, and the optimal turbine efficiency value was 67.36 %.
