Abstract

Unmanned Aircraft Vehicle (UAV) is widely used in military operations or civil industry (such as for agriculture). To be able to reach the maximum load to be considered more economical, aircraft structure must support the functions. The use and testing of various composite mixtures have been carried out. This research used mixtures of kevlar carbon fiber for the skin of the aircraft wing and the bending test purposed to obtain the maximum load that can be accepted by the specimen. The calculation of maximum deflection value was also carried out to obtain the maximum strain value. This research was carried out using 3 variations mixtures of resin and kevlar, from each variation which consisted of 3 specimens. The finding of this research was the three volume fractions variations achieved the bending tests as 80% of epoxy resin volume fraction: 20% kevlar carbon fiber that broke before yielding at the loading proses. The 70% of epoxy resin volume fraction: 30% kevlar carbon fiber experienced yielding before breaking the specimen at the loading proses. The 50% of epoxy resin volume fraction: 50% kevlar carbon fiber got yielding condition before the specimen finally broke.
