Abstract

Optimization of the distance and frequency of access points on wireless networks is necessary to optimize the powerful transmit power of the signal that the receiver receives from the transmitter. The placement of the access point affects the signal strength parameters, because the signal strength value is used to determine the coverage area of the access point placement. In this study, a measurement of the strength of the signal received by the receiver from the transmitter at the ITDA Laboratory was carried out using the inSSIDer application which produces an RSSI value and a measurement of signal strength by validating the data using a pre-made application that produces the time and speed of obtaining data. The prolific data is used to determine the placement of access points using descriptive statistical analysis methods on the mean function. The results of the data test, obtained the most optimal distance located in the Multimedia Laboratory with an indication of a streght signal of -34.6 dBM to -48 dBM at a susceptibility distance of 4-10 meters with a strong classification of excellent verry signal.
