Abstract

Food is a basic human need that is needed at all times and requires proper and correct processing to be beneficial to the body. Food or food products are anything that comes from biological sources or water, whether processed or unprocessed, which is intended for food or drink for consumption. Humans. Every effort is continuously made to improve the health of the human body, both in the field of health and in the field of technology in order to help humans realize that they are consuming clean food and do not contain ingredients that are harmful to health, such as metal content. To deal with this problem, the author conducted research on the design of a metal food separator using the LJ18A3-8-Z/BX sensor which is expected to help the process of detecting metals in food quickly and accurately. In this study, to determine whether food contains metal or not, a Proximity sensor is used, the application of a Proximity sensor when detecting metal is used. This application is run on the Arduino Uno microprocessor. Arduino functions to process all systems so that everything can work properly according to the program that has been made. After the sensor data detection results are obtained, then command the Servo Motor, Servo Motor as driving the separation plate and display sensor data on a 16x2 LCD. The results of tests carried out using foods that contain metals and do not contain metals with 20 trials. The results of the percentage of detection errors ranged from 0-20% with an average detection error of 5% and the average percentage level of detection accuracy was 95%. The test results from the Proximity sensor are obtained from measuring the output voltage from the sensor when it is active at 4.8 Volt DC and the output current is 190 mA
