Abstract

At this time the rocket design is being developed, namely a rocket with an EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) propulsion system which is an unmanned rocket that is controlled from a runway used for certain missions. One of the important components in a rocket payload (PayLoad) is a temperature and humidity sensor and a compass-type sensor. The function of temperature and humidity sensors as well as sensors in the form of a compass are part of the components that are very influential in rocket design, so it is necessary to do half-duplex communication for rocket research and ground segments. The purpose of this study is to determine the results of data communication, determine the characteristics of the workings of the half-duplex communication system, and determine the maximum distance between the rocket and the ground system. In this study, a simulation of the communication system between the ground segment and the rocket is made. This system is designed so that the ground segment sends commands to the rocket to send sensor data to the ground segmnet. The use of sensors is replaced by using a potentiometer because the system is a simulation. With this system, user can monitor the position of the rocket from sensor readings on the rocket in real time The results showed that the system's ability to make communication based on the half duplex communication protocol, the ability of the rocket to read and transmit sensor data twice per second, and the ability of the ground segment to give orders to the rocket to start sending sensor data to the ground segment.
