Abstract

Nitrogen Generation System NGS is a system that relies on nitrogen gas N 2 . Nitrogen is one of the gases found in air which can be categorized as an inert gas. Inert gas is a group of gases that will not undergo chemical reactions under certain conditions. The connection between explosion and NGS is that in the presence of nitrogen gas, it can prevent explosions/combustion. This is because for an explosion/combustion to occur it must have 3 three elements namely, ignition, fuel, and oxygen. In this study using the method of observation and information from various sources. In addition, this study also uses a case study method that directly handles failure cases of the nitrogen generation system on the HFV High Flow Valve component on the B737 800NG aircraft. The results of this research regarding the problems with the B737 800NG nitrogen generation system are that there are problems with the HFV High Flow Valve component which is carried out after checking the nitrogen generation system operabilty indicator which is blue and on the BDU Bite Displat Unit which shows a fault message on HFV High Flow Valve fail open. From these problems, a problem solving process was carried out referring to AMM B737 800NG task 47 31 04. By analyzing the causes of failure in the HFV High Flow Valve it is found that the valve is experiencing corrosion caused by moisture during the air cooling process in the heat exhauster.
