Abstract

The growth of industries such as aerospace, automotive, construction, and energy has driven demand for composites with special properties. An example is in the aerospace industry how to create composites to reduce aircraft weight and improve fuel efficiency. This demand drives innovation and further development in the field of composites. The use of Natural fiber (Banana Frond Fiber) as a composite material reinforcement fiber will have a very important meaning, namely in terms of the utilization of banana plant plantation waste in Indonesia which has not been sufficiently optimized in terms of economy and utilization of processed products. From the above considerations, this study was conducted to obtain an analysis of the bending strength of banana frond fiber-reinforced composites with a ratio of 5%fiber and 95% resin using 3 different variations = unidirectional fiber variations, irregular fiber variations and woven fiber variations. Bending testing using composite specimens according to ASTM D790 size standards The test results obtained bending strength values with fiber averages with a handover variation of 9.24 Kgf / mm2, fiber with irregular variations of 6.53 Kgf /mm2, and fiber with woven variations of 9.49 Kgf / mm2 . The results showed that he higher the fiber density level, the better the bond between fiber and resin and the higher and larger the value as well. Thus the value of woven fiber shows that it has a higher yield because the fiber holds the load to the maximum so that when the specimen is burdened by the load it will be evenly distributed
