Abstract

PT. Mega Jaya Logam is a private company operating in the fieldmetal casting industry. Layout problems that occur in the companyis the placement of finished goods that is not in accordance with the material flowthe distance between delivery areas is very far, the occurrence and cross movement onmaterial flow resulting in long transfer distances and delays, area capacityThere is often overload in the area where finished goods are placed due to placementinappropriate vehicles, causing irregularities in theproduct storage, etc. It is hoped that this research will make things easierin checking finished products in the finished product laying area, minimizingmaterial handling distance, the production process can run better and distancedisplacement can be optimized.This research is the metal casting production process of PT. Mega Jaya stilltakes place mostly using human power with a good arrangementless than optimal. This results in less efficient product completion.The increase in incoming requests causes function transfer to occurThe land becomes a storage area so that the finished product is storedscattered and not unified. This deployment results in the production layoutthe floor is less than optimal and needs repair. That approachused to overcome existing problems is the shared methodstorage.The calculation results using the shared storage method were obtainedThe minimum area for product storage is 33.6 m2 total distance traveledThe initial location is 300.89m. The total mileage of the proposed layout isamounting to 241.29m. There is a difference in the total distance traveled by 59.6m from the totalinitial mileage. This means that the proposed layout can shorten the distancethe distance traveled by area employees in picking up goods.
