Abstract

The community's need for motorized vehicles as a means of transportation is increasing. With the increasing number of vehicles, the number of accidents also increases due to non-compliance with regulations or technical errors in vehicles and drivers because vehicles are traveling at high speeds. In this study, the authors created a design for speed monitoring and speed limiting devices based on the Internet of Things. In this study, speed information monitoring tools and speed limiters based on the Internet of Things will provide information if the speed limit exceeds that specified by notifications on the Blynk application and a Buzzer sound on the research tool. The speed information monitoring system and speed limiter use the UBlok NEO 6M GPS module as a sensor to measure vehicle speed, vehicle location when moving. This study uses the NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller to read sensor data as a data sender on the LCD, Buzzer and Blynk application to provide information that the vehicle exceeds the specified speed limit. The results of the study show that speed monitoring devices and speed limiters can measure vehicle speed and provide speed limit notifications. Speed testing with a speedometer testing tool shows an average error of 2.54% and an average accuracy of 97.46% with 15 trials measured by the sensor on the research tool compared to what is read on the speedometer. Testing sensor response to the Blynk application, each test does not always have the exact same response speed and delay because the signal on the internet network used is not always stable or often changes.
