Abstract

Dispenser is a tool used to take drinking water that is in a gallon. However, users need to expend energy to press the faucet on the dispenser so that the water will come out. The user also has to focus his attention into the glass so that the water pouring from the dispenser does not spill. In this study, a prototype automatic dispenser based on the ultrasonic sensor HCSR-04 and Arduino Uno Rev 3 has been realized to make it easier for users to take water from gallons. The working principle of the HC-SR04 sensor attached to this tool is to detect the glass under the dispenser hose. When the sensor reads the predetermined distance from the ultrasonic sensor to the glass position, the sensor data will be forwarded to the Arduino Uno Rev 3 microcontroller device which functions as the main component in the system controller. After that, Arduino will give orders to the mini water pump to suck up water from gallons. Then the water will automatically come out of the dispenser hose. When the volume of water filled has reached a certain point, the pump will stop. The results of the study stated that the dispenser automation could only work properly on glasses with a height of 8.5 cm and 12.5 cm with a glass diameter of 7cm according to the timer setting made in the Arduino program. The distance of the object to the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor that can be read is from 1 cm-5 cm. This dispenser prototype can work in various types of containers with certain sizes. This tool cannot work on plastic cups with a glass height of 4 cm because the height of the glass is below the location of the HC-SR04 sensor, so that the ultrasonic waves from the HC-SR04 sensor cannot hit the glass.
