Abstract

Wing is the part of the aircraft or UAV that generates lift by creating a pressure difference between the top and bottom. Greater pressure under the wing generates lift. However, this also creates a vortex or swirl of air, which is called induced drag. This vortex has high rotational and translational kinetic energy. So a winglet is needed to reduce the vortex that occurs. This study aims to analyze the aerodynamic characteristics of the MH 30 wing by varying the angle of the canted winglet on the wing. This study involved 2 variations of the canted winglet angle. Aircraft modeling and simulation was carried out using Solidwork and ANSYS software. The results showed that the MH 30 wing with a canted winglet angle of 40° increased the lift coefficient value compared to a canted winglet angle of 30° which had the highest lift coefficient value with a value of 1.54678 and had the lowest drag coefficient value with a value of 0.03991. Overall, the MH 30 wing with a canted winglet angle of 40° has the highest CL/CD value of 40.021 at an angle of attack of 8°, indicating that a canted winglet angle of 40° is the optimal canted winglet angle.
