Abstract
The propeller is the main part of the aircraft drive that needs to be considered in terms of its characteristics. Aircraft have different characteristics, so propeller selection is very important to maximize the performance of the aircraft. Therefore, it is necessary to test the performance of the propeller to determine the characteristics of the propeller. This study aims to determine the effect of advance ratio on the coefficient and efficiency comparison between two propellers with different blade tip shapes using the computational fluid dynamics method. This study uses propeller rotary variations of 2100, 2250, 2400, 2550, and 2700 rpm, with variations in free airflow velocity of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, and 60 m/s. The propeller is modeled using Solidworks software and simulated using Ansys fluent software. The results showed that the advance ratio affects the thrust coefficient, torque coefficient, and power coefficient produced by the propeller. At a low advance ratio, the coefficient produced is large, and at a high advance ratio, the coefficient produced decreases. The comparison of efficiency shows, at a low advance ratio propeller-2 is more efficient than propeller-1, and at a high advance ratio propeller-1 is more efficient than propeller-2 with a peak efficiency of 73.91% and 71.78% on propeller-2.
