Abstract
Electric Ducted Fan (EDF) is a type of motor that is currently popular, especially in the aerospace field. EDF can generate thrust through the ability of a rotating fan, EDF is often used in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). The development of UAVs is very rapid because they are needed for various needs, one example as a reconnaissance tool in military activities. The type of UAV being developed is high-speed UAV, high-speed UAV requires a large driving force to maximize the speed of the UAV. Using EDF as an engine for UAVs is a way to maximize speed for UAVs. EDF is made of plastic or aluminum and is designed with aerodynamics in mind. In this research, a microcontroller-based EDF test device was created which used an infrared sensor for calculating RPM, a load cell sensor for calculating thrust. The sensors were decoded using Arduino, and the results will be displayed on the LCD display. Of the 3 tests, the maximum thrust was found to be 212.666 gr, 11.07 V, 6.96 A, 76.9 W and 22533 RPM. Where each test is carried out with the same time, namely 30 seconds and the same battery. EDF maximum testing requires large and high resources so that EDF can achieve maximum results.
