Abstract
Because of the nature of natural fibers that can be recycled or recycled in other renewable conditions, it has features heat insulation, corrosion resistance, and current-resistant and also environmentally friendly in addition to the application of composites that are very wide ranging from household, land vehicles, ships to aircraft and UAV. This study aims to determine the strength of the Hybrid composite tensile test of hemp fiber and banana stems with volume fraction variations of 30%, 40% and 50%. To determine the value of composite tensile strength, tensile testing is needed using the Qualitest brand Universal Testing Machine with a load cell capacity of 5 tons at the Nurtanio laboratory of the Adisujipto Institute of Aerospace Technology Yogyakarta. Starting from composite manufacturing with the hand layup method using epoxy resin and volume fraction variations of 30%, 40% and 50%. From the results of tensile testing of composite specimens, analysis and comparison were obtained that the volume fraction was 50% stronger in tensile strength, which was obtained at an average value of 136,887 MPa than 30% which was at 71,263 Mpa. Inconclusion that the higher the value of the fiber volume fraction, the higher the value of tensile strength beside other influencing factors.
