Abstract
The rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle technology has made it used as a component of air power with reconnaissance missions. Inspired by nature some of the base characteristics and principles found in birds have also been adopted in various aircraft designs. In this study, we designed and manufactured an unmanned aerial vehicle prototype with a flapping wing mechanism inspired by birds during flapping flight. The materials used to fabricate the prototype in this study were polymers and carbon fiber. The configuration applied to the unmanned aerial vehicle wing is a monoplane with a thin wing profile. It has a wingspan of 1.04 m with a flapping frequency of 4 Hz and flapping amplitude of 60o . Based on the prototype, it weighed 405 g with a maximum take-off weight of 475 g. Through the test flight that has been held, its configuration design was managed to fly well.
