Abstract
Electric Ducted Fan EDF is an electric propulsion type that uses a motor and electrical energy as the main power to run it. EDF has several components such as inlet duct, fan, electric motor, and outlet duct. EDF can produce greater thrust compared to motor-propeller with the same diameter and type of motor. This is due to the use of ducts to increase the speed of airflow in the EDF. Therefore, researchers studied the effect of duct shape on EDF performance. The method used is a numerical computation method. With an inlet diameter of 91mm, an outlet diameter of 81.9mm and duct variations in the radius of the inlet lip duct and the outlet angle. EDF is made in 3 dimensions using SolidWorks software. After obtaining the 3-dimensional shape, the EDF is analyzed using Ansys software. The results of the analysis show that the modified EDF model with variations in the lip duct inlet radius of 14% dt and outlet angle of 14 degrees has more optimal performance when compared to the EDF results of the initial model. The fluid velocity in section 4 increases by 14% and the thrust increases by 5%.
