Abstract

The flight control system is an important part of airplane which functions to control the flight motion of the aircraft from take of to landing. In operating the F-16 fighting falcon aircraft, it is required to have high reliability in its flight motion function, while on the one hand it has the possibility of failure. The study aims to determine the causes of failure in the flight control system of the F-16 aircraft. The data used is rectification data for air squadron 3 aircraft from 2017- 2021. The method used in this research is failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) and fishbone diagram. FMEA is a method used to analysis the cause of damage to a system, along with the effect if there is damage to the system. While the fishbone diagram method is a method that identifies various potential causes of one effect or problem and analysis the problem into several causal factors through a brainstorming session. The result showed that the F-16 flight control system problem in the failure mode analysis process using the FMEA method obtained the highest RPN (Risk Priority Number) value, namely the FLCS power problem has an RPN value of 234. The causes of the FLCS power problem is damage to the battery, inverter, and converter regulator. Meanwhile, based on the result of the analysis using the fishbone diagram method, there were 5 factor causing the failure of the flight control system of the F-16 aircraft, namely damage to the computer system, sensor system, actuactor system, power system, and wiring system.
