Abstract
Analysis of aerodynamic characteristics in the initial design process of a missile is very important. The results of the analysis of aerodynamic characteristics can be used as a reference to determine the range, size of the propulsion system, and maneuverability of a missile. This can be used to ensure that the designed missile needs are met. From an engineer's point of view, information regarding aerodynamic performance can also help improve the quality of missiles to be built in the future. There are two methods that can be used to analyze aerodynamic characteristics using a computer. The two methods are computational fluid dynamic (CFD) and semi- empirical methods. Both have different methods of analyzing aerodynamics. This makes the results of the analysis different. This difference sometimes causes accuracy problems in the analysis of aerodynamic characteristics. Because it is necessary to compare the results of the two analyzes to see the differences between the two so that it can help researchers get the best results needed and determine the method used in conceptual design efforts. Researchers conducted an analysis on the geometry of the Ground to Ground Missile obtained from documents from the National Research and Innovation Agency. This study uses two software namely Ansys Fluent (CFD) and Missile DATCOM (semi- empirical). The study uses the same Reynolds number values in both methods. The results of the analysis show that the CN and CA values have the same trend from the CFD and semi-empirical methods. Even so, the CN and CA values from the CFD analysis results are greater when compared to the semi-empirical analysis results. This shows the difference between the two methods of analysis
